INNER COSMOS IN OUTER SPACE
Imagery that emerges from reality and the unconscious inform my work. I am constantly collecting ideas from everyday life like the daydreams that play in my head, a distant conversation heard in fragments, the reflection of a passing object in a store window, and my experiences as I work with children immersed in free play.
My paintings are reflections composed of tender, poignant, and amusingly strange experiences intermixed with words, symbols, and longings for the past and future. Visual elements are culled from inner and outer travels, language, emotional responses and states, icons, hopes and dreams, and mythologies. Dreamlike associations and playful visual dialogues meld together as commemorations of everyday life.
